The Advisory is a group of informal, independent senior managerial people who can provide advice on various issues to CAcert.  They make no decisions, instead they write policy documents and advices which are provided to others.  These advices may be used as seen fit.

== Mandate ==

The informal mandate is:

 * Independence.
 * A free hand in selection of issues.
 * No power, nor delegation.
 * A free hand in presentation of recommendations to the executive board, and to the community.
 * No responsibility, nor liability.
 * Self-governing.

Advisory has found themselves in these main areas:

 * preparation and conduct of the SGM 2007.05.25.
 * HumanResourcesOfficer task handed over to ManagementSubCommittee board meeting 2008.09.20.
 * consulting on programmes and policy documents for audit purposes
 * taking of minutes for ManagementSubCommittee and other groups.
